Ya, I just found out. We are contacting distributors in the UK directly, looks like we are going to have to take a leap and order a few pallets of the stuff to get pricing right.

25 Kg spraymalt all gone. Guys got a great deal because our supplier screwed up and sent us 50 by 500 g in a box instead of the usual 25 Kg in a box. Somebody is losing big time on this, hopefully our supplier!

But we have a massive maltster on our doorstep- greencore. why not get the 4 or 5 malts they do and repackage them before going to the english distributors?

I guess we haven't really done our homework right yet, its just that we spoke to a local microbrewery and figured the pricing would be Ok. We've hugely expanded our kit ranges etc, getting close to stocking 500 products now. And we are getting there for extract brewers too, with great deals on bulk spraymalt etc. .

Anyway, our next goal is to get serious about all grain brewing. This will take us a while to sort out I guess. Repacking grains, hops (also spraymalt) is something we have to figure out yet, we'd prefer to oursource it but haven't found anyone in Galway who will do it for us yet (I thought there is supposed to be a recession, we've offered up to a euro a bag to repack 500 by 1 Kg bags of spraymalt!).

One of the reasons we haven't gone all grain yet is because one UK supplier wont deal with us (we deal with 5 others, and thats growing so that we can get the best prices). Its made it difficult for us to source some grains/hops/equipment that one of our Irish competitors has, in particular mash tuns. We have to crack that nut too. We dont want to "half do it", so when we go there, we will try to go with a complete product range at great prices.

We do really appreciate all the advise you guys are giving us here. I figure we will crack the grain and hop end of things soon, mash tons are a problem for us though. We might build a few from coolers here, and put drawings on the site with details on where to get the coolers. We could supply an equipment pack with all the plumbing bits included. Its hassle though when you can buy one ready made for 74.99. Hmmm, any advice would help!

Building your own mash tun[/url:7f6he9vj] can be a lot cheaper, and if you provided a pack of plumbing bits it'd be great. But keep in mind that people may buy the "wrong cooler", or choose different types, so the kit you provided would not be valid. Unless you sourced coolers and built your own to a good design as a help for the cack-handed <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

maybe I'm just too avid a diy fan but for me, it made no sense to buy what you can easily make for less than half the price. there are tonnes of clear and useful internet guides to making all sorts of mash tuns, from steel to coolerbox to plastic insulated bucket, and my guess is people who want to move to all grain will build their own. To be honest I think what you need to focus on is offering things to people who are already brewing all grain.
