hi,

Daniel at your service, nice to meet you all.

I have had a epiphany of sorts <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> Plenty of years kit brewing under my belt but now i think something a little different. Reading "How to Brew" by John Palmer at the moment and after i organize a boiler i think I'll give extract brewing followed quickly by all grain brewing a go. Thanks for your equipment articles, the wort cooler is completed and the mash tun is soon to follow.

One question of many I have is would adding the second element to a boiling bucket not rack up a nice bit in ESB bills. I am more thinking of the energy use than the cost, green thinking.

Welcome to the site, Daniel.

The amount of energy it takes to bring water to the boil is exactly the same regardless of the number of elements used. Using two just makes it faster, and once a rolling boil is reached, knocking one of the elements off will sustain it.

Hey. The second element is great to get up to the boil and can be switched off and only use the one to keep the boil going. Its well worth it cause one element can take ages to get a full boil going. Make sure you check out the Brewing Knowledge page here. It helped me get into all grain. Has everything.

Welcome to the site.

Nigel.
