Thanks Reuben - I'm new to brewing and blogging! Always good to try something new! I have another beery friend that is encouraging me to get on to twitter as well. Seems there is plenty of beer talk on there too but I've never dabbled in the world of twitter at all... that's a job for another week methinks!

Where did you pick up the red ales and marble beers from your last couple of blog posts?

Like the review of the Belfast beer festival. I missed that unfortunately... bit disappointing since I am a nordy! John Hewitt is a great spot. One of my favourites in Belfast.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the Smithwicks Pale Ale. When you're stuck in a pub with no craft beer it is a pretty decent option to have available. Will be having a few more of those I'm sure!

Those red ales were from London I'm afraid. However drinkstore has one of them[/url:13vj2u1t]

Hi all,

I've been here a couple of months now asking noob questions but never introduced myself, how very rude.

Well I'm Joe - a Galway based student.

Have done a few kits now since getting the equipment in August. On the last brew moved on to extract with the Brupak extract ingredient kits. So far it's tasting great from the fermenter so I've some ingredients for an extract stout on their way now.

Thanks for all the advice so far!

Joe

Hello all-

I'm 31 and live in Dublin (originally from Donegal). I've been a fan of craft brewing since I discovered the Porterhouse during university, and never looked back.

My tastes are pretty broad - depending on the weather and my mood I oscillate between pale ales, pilsner and stouts - but I always try to support Irish craft brewers. It's a happy coincidence that I genuinely feel that Dungarvan, 8 Degrees, Carlow Brewing and Trouble Brewing are turning out some super products at the moment which makes that a very easy task.

Generally I can be found buying in Deveney's in Dundrum, sitting in the Porterhouse or (lately) Against the Grain. I've managed to make it farther afield to Dungarvan, Lismore and Galway on a few occasions to drink from the source, as it were.

At the moment I'm not involved in home brewing whatsoever - I live in an appartment and my girlfriend would shoot me. It's something I would like to try in the future, however.

Looking forward to reading a lot here.

Welcome Rory. We're meeting in AtG on Wednesday week[/url:yqnj264d] if you want to say hello in person over a pint.

And welcome, formally, Joe.
