Malt Crusher And Cheap Grain 15 years 3 months ago #7

The price for the mill seems at first expensive BUT is it a finished ready to go product? My CrankandStein adjustable mill cost about €120 whith shipping but then had to be mounted on plate and then a hopper had to be built etc etc. All this is dead cheap if you are handy with diy and have got vatious bits and pieces and tools. So MAYBE at that price the mill, if "Ready-to-Mill", would appeal to some people. The bulk malt price ( and the fact that unmilled malts last longer ) would soon make a difference

Cheers

Will
Ps: Am soon to start milling some home malted malt

Interested in hearing more about the crusher.
I need to order grain now but I guess you are not going to be ready to sell for a while so perhaps next time.

the price of that crusher is nuts! it'd be cheaper to pay 3 students to strap weights to their feet and jump up and down on the garage floor!

Yeah, the grain sounds good but the mill is a crazy price.

I have ordered uncrushed Marris Otter from the Homebrew Company in the past, although it had to be ordered ex stock. It was the same price as crushed grain (39.99 for 25kg at the moment). So your pricing seems to be comparable to theirs. It's not a game changer but more suppliers offering a wider range of uncrushed grain would be good for the Irish homebrewer, especially if it's a standard stock item.

Without knowing what mills you propose to supply the prices are out of line with what people can currently source. Crankandstein are good mills (2A mill would be most popular and perfectly good for most homebrewers, can be ordered with or without base & hopper - from $96)- if you order a few you will save on shipping and this saving can be passed on. This reduces the entry price and will get you more customers for uncrushed grain.

Best of luck.
