If the latter, I wouldn't bother. I have heard they are not great, also if you need to grind any more than about a kg at a time it's just not worth it by hand. You can get the Crankandstein mill from the US for around 120 including shipping, it's a great machine, so you'd need to compete with that, and a hand crank grinder can't really compete with that[/quote:32pyfmjd]

You say 120 from the US, does that include a drill and a hopper and a mount?
I'd daresay that even that hand crank is better than nothing.
Can anyone confirm that a handheld cordless drill will have enough power and juice to run through a 15KG grain bill?
Personally I'd rather not burn out my cordless trying something like this, mains powered drills are surely the way to go?[/quote:32pyfmjd]

Ya, its similar to: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.hopandgrape.com/public/detailv1.asp?itemcode=CAS20184458">www.hopandgrape.com/public/detai ... AS20184458
but it is fully adjustable.

I guess its small, and easily attached to a table. I suppose its geared for those with only a few Kg to crush. We are trying to find a low cost way to move brewers into the all grain domain, that still produces the best quality output.

Eoin, I'll get one to you as soon as I have them (about 8 weeks away).

Ah, indeed a smart use of the resources.

Cheers Brian, I'll use it and do an honest appraisal, I need to get my blog running again, people are asking me to update it and I've just not been at it a while now since I started to do all grain.
I really should update on the BIAB and all-grain stuff that I'm doing.

19kg with a Corona mill? <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->

This mill will be fine for extract with grain brewers but for all grain brewers it's just not going to be up to scratch. I don't say this to be critical, it's just not a realistic option.

Well I'll soon find out right?
My last lager grain bill was 14KG, I'm in no hurry, but if it's gonna put muscles on me then I'll feed that back.
I was actually planning to buy the particular mill from the UK a while back, a bad idea? Possibly but let's see how I get on. I'd imagine I can get 2KG through it in 5 minutes, or have you got experience that would tell you otherwise?

Hi Eoin, let me put it this way, I wouldn't hold out much hope at beating you in arm wrestling once you're finished <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I can't give you exact timings but I use a drill to drive a mill with 10 to 12 kg for many brews. I can't imagine using a Corona style mill for that.
