Don't worry, certainly wasn't taken as a dig. The project has definitely lost momentum! [i:18et5aaa]Mea Culpa[/i:18et5aaa] <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Beamish & Crawford joins the list of Ireland's lost breweries today[/url:2244bmon]. I'm very excited to learn that Heineken are handing over the corporate records to Cork city archives. Hopefully this will allow us get our hands on the historical recipes, gravity tables and the like.

I'd be very interested in this. I would relish the opportunity to try and brew a beer to a recipe used by Beamish in the 19th century.

I got three adverts for Myrphy's on the Examiner page about the closure. Coincidence?

I've e-mailed the archivist and asked for a heads-up when the papers are available.

I got that Murphy's ad too. The one with the slogan "The official pint of us", which doesn't say a whole lot for the ongoing support of the Beamish brand. If they advertise it at all, it'll probably be something along the lines of "Have a pint of it if you must, you scabby fecker".

Officiall he end of an era ...

Heineken/Murphy's are saying all the right things PR wise but the BIG QUESTION will be will they really support the Beamish Stout brand or let it die away slowly or not slowly.

I need to be convinced and would love to be proved wrong .....
