It's funny that, as I had seen some marriage records or something (must look again) that referred to a Mr Clotworthy who was a brewer. Methinks CWD needs to be renamed CW&D. Still tastes good tho! <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

<edit>Look at this though[/url:312i20lb], the highlighted text from a General Directory of 1866. Dobbin, Clotworthy, Brewer. Did the families intermarry, and end up with a child with a first name named after a maternal surname? Or something like that... <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Power's and...???

I have one called St Brigid's Well, owned by the Marquis of Waterford.

The two were right beside each other too! Here's the entry I have:

[quote:1hvdfdlb]Placename: Dungarvan
County: Waterford
Townland: Fairlane
Barony: Decies Without Drum
Comments:
Found on First Edition 6" map marked as "Brewery" just at the north side of the junction of O'Connell Street and Wolfe Tone Road. This marks a large building. There was a smaller brewery marked right next door, plotted seperately.[/quote:1hvdfdlb]

So, was one of these Power's? <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

That's Powers alright. Maybe it was St. Brigids previously, but I always assumed they were one and the same.
Only recently got converted to houses. I'm not sure how much of the original nuilding is left. I'll have to go take a look. When I was younger it was the home of the scouts den, but was certainley just a derelict brewery. A perfect place for a bunch of eight year olds to run amuk.

Fair Lane is the older name for Wolfe Tone Road.
