Can we back out if we are embarrassed by the beer we produce?

Taste Challenge III - This time its personal! 15 years 7 months ago #62

Absolutely not!

I can provide a venue, if people reckon it's handier.

Actually your place is a much better venue in terms of getting there. I guess Ed is off the hook

I think it is even easier for people to get to my house than Eds

Could you be persuaded to try a lager yeast instead? [/quote:3buyymlp]
no problem.

Yes, but doesn't it defeat the purpose? I thought the whole point was to brew similar beers using the different methods. Blonde Ale is quite a broad style and could end up as anything from pseudo lager to near pale ale. I would have thought agreeing on approximate IBUs, hop schedule (if not variety) and O.G. would make sense, no?

It would, but can it be done?

It would be best if everyone shoots for a beer to roughly match the kits' vital statistics: 4.5% ABV; 25 IBU.

Beyond this, I don't think the purpose of the exercise will be completely defeated by variation, as long as there are several beers per brewing method. You end up with a sort of average version of each type.
