Will be an ale yeast but it does make a difference, beer fermented when the room temp is 20 tastes undeniably ale-y in my experience.

I won't be ready to brew for this weekend. My 1 litre starter is quite sluggish at the moment. I've ordered some W34/70 as a backup.

I am brewing on this weekend. Tomorrow most likely.

So I got around to brewing this last night. Over the past week I stepped my starter up from 1 litre to 4 litres, cooled it down and tasted the discarded wort, all was going well. Brew went fine, so I attached the immersion chiller and left it to its own devices. Half an hour later I returned to see a mini Trevi fountain spraying water from the hose/chiller connection where the hose clamp had loosened. I'm not sure how much water has got into the wort as the boiler was mostly covered with the lid but obviously there's a chance that it will have an effect. On the plus side fermentation had kicked off this morning when I checked, the fridge is set to 11C. I hereby christen this beer 'Psycho Chiller'.
