I'm writing on behalf of a theatre who will have a 50 night run of a production starting in November. The 2 main characters will be drinking beers throughout the productions. However, we need them to be able to drink non-alcoholic beer.

The catch is that it needs to be served on tap - so we would need 5 kegs of non-alcholic beer for the show-run. We estimate they will drink 400 pints during the production. I have already tried Erdinger in Germany and Kaliber (Diageo) and neither is available in kegs.

As a last resort, I was wondering if anyone on this network would know of any brewer who might be able to provide non-alcoholic kegs? Even if we could source the beer in bottles and have someone work out a way to make them pour through a tap (I have already asked people and I have been told that if you put bottle-beer into kegs, it will be too gassy when poured..). They can't logistically pour bottles into pint glasses off stage and bring them on because they need to be poured from the tap in front of the audience.

The only real requirement for the beer is that it should look like a lager, but it can't be alcoholic.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong thread.

Not sure if I've ever seen alcohol free beer in kegs, but there are a couple more brands for you to try. Paulaner, which is by Heineken and Clausthaler, which you'll have to Google.

Oh and Becks, which is by A.B. Inbev.

I like a challenge!

Option1: Buy in bottled NA Erdinger ( IMHO a great NA beer ) and chill it, fill a keg, chill some more and then it will dispense on draught. Just need someone from Beoir to set it up.

Option2: Similar bottles of Erdinger NA chilled, and sureptiously ( maybe "Offcamera" is spelled better"!) poured into a few glasses under the bar ( kept cold in a fridge ).
Have a keg of lager connected to the tap on stage and then take out a glass and just put a head on the pint. That way you get mainly NA Erdy with a head of Heineken.

Option3: You really don't want this one: Create a brown/yellow liquid with a head ( Water with caramel and fairy liquid ) but just DON'T let the actors drink it!! ( This is how they used to drink whiskey in soaps: Strong cold tea !! )

5 or 6 bottles in a corny each night? might need to degas them a bit first but should work. Can a corny be connected up to a 'proper' bar tap ok?

or just use a keg of beer if they're not going to drink it...
