At the risk of sounding picky...

'the alcoholic content of which is entirely of fermented origin'

Assuming the alcool content is nil(Force carbonate) or near enough (Bottle Carb) then this the product is no different than Root beer or Club Shandy.

Yes, picky.

NA beer doesnt hve an alcohol content of nil, mostly between 0.05 and 0.5% depending on how they strip the alcohol.
I dont know maybe there is an exemption, but I'm sure revenue will want to get fairly familiar with you to allow you brew beer for sale (even though you strip the alcohol) without them getting a cut.

To be picky you should pay tax on manufacturing a product and selling it whether its beer, sausages or bicycles you're making <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

So what about this for a recipe:

Water
Enough light DME/LME for a slightly sweet taste
Enough Steeped specialty malt for colour
Add Hops for bittering / balance the sweetness
Add flavouring hops for a fruity/acid balance

Boil it all to sterilise

Cool.

Add a liquid heading agent ( alginate extract from seaweed ) used to be an available home brew adjunct.

Keg, Chill, Carbonate and serve

No alcohol watsoever!

If you get the balance right might it may even taste nice.

They are actors (read starving and struggling) after all and the chance for a few hundred free calories with no-alcohol would not go amiss.

Heck, you could even deduct food and drink from their remuneration package!!

Will

I seem to be the nay sayer here so I'll go again.

One of the unique properties of beer is that its the only liquid that will sustain foam.
Even with heading agent it will look more like a mineral than a beer.
