Hi All,

Have been lurking around forum for the past 6 months so its well to time for introductions. Galway/Mayo based and just a tad obsessed with the current craft beer revolution - cant get enough info at the minute and this site is a great resource.

Jumped straight in at AG and after an initial all night disaster (didn't realize length of time involved) have successfully brewed an Anchor Porter Clone which has been maturing nicely the last 6 wks or so and tastes pretty damn good.

Have converted shed into little brewery as kitchen was suffering and have converted a deep freeze in a fermentation cabinet (untried) as hot press was under pressure.

Involved in the licensed/hospitality trade and tried to introduce a couple of our native craft beers with mixed success - feast or famine depending on clientele in house on a particular weekend. Our brewers need a marketing injection, especially on the western seaboard. Whilst the likes of the Oslo & Salthouse are welcomed in Galway - the craft beers really need to become mainstream. Possibly a role for Bord Bia/Failte Ireland/Beoir?

Heading to Brewlab in Sunderland this weekend so looking forward to that and thinking about the VLB course in November as dreaming about taking it to the next level - you gotta dream.

Really enjoying the home brewing as are the kids on a Saturday morning - has taken over from the sporadic 18 holes of golf.

Hi All,

Am also a newbie with 1 kit and 2 extracts under my belt.... Have always been a keen cook and am a keen beer drinker so homebrewing seemed the natural progression.. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
Will hopefully be doing my first all-grain batch next week. Any ideas how long crushed grain will keep in an airtight container?
Ultimately, (I know it sounds a bit dreamy) I want to set up a local micro brewery (I'm in Wicklow) and try wean all the bar flys from the mass produced flavorless piss to locally brewed fine ales and lagers.....
