I think it will be hard to get the ordinary young punter to think this is a lager. Anything black with Guinness on the label is going to be put in the "stout" mindset I suspect. Just listening to Tom Doorley, it sounds like that was his mindset - "it's a version of Guinness why are they messing with it".
I could be wrong, but the typical young punter, taking my son as an example, has little interest in the taste of their beer (it's for getting drunk) and yellow beer is lager and anything darker is ale and "they don't do ale man!".
I hope I'm not offending any younger members of ICB, but if they're members, then they are not typical young punters are they.[/quote:1qwmqmel]

It seems impossible to market anything at the young punter these days!

You're right though, the only thing people wanna know is "does it get me pissed?", "how pissed does it get me?" and "how long does it take to get me pissed".

It's not uncommon though for a good few 18-25 yr olds to be drinking Guinness. I drank it when I was legal and really stopped in the lst yr or so (since discovering O'Haras ye see <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) --> ) and I'm still in that brackt.

I was reading that in the Porterhouse earlier while supping a yummy Oyster followed by a Plain.

I actually laughed out loud. The oul lad next to me didn't seem to notice as he was too engrossed in whatever yummy bottle of beer he had. I was going to point it out to the barman to cut it out and stick it on the wall but he was kinda busy.

Young people just don't always get the exposure, I know that I've definitely turned my 22 year old brother on to craft beer. He's more than happy to come to Dublin to test my latest brews and give an opinion on them, when we've had a few of them.
It's just an education thing, but then he's over the getting lashed out of it and puking on a saturday night phase that most of them go through.

as oppossed to the very receptive middle aged drinker here in Ireland who is only interested in enjoying craft brew responsibly.give me a a break will ya.

I'm sorry this education thing drives me mad. What, get a drinking education from any Irish generation? you're having a laugh right? Do as I say not as I do.

I think you might be surprised by how many young members there are in ICB.
