I think it will be hard to get the ordinary young punter to think this is a lager. Anything black with Guinness on the label is going to be put in the "stout" mindset I suspect. Just listening to Tom Doorley, it sounds like that was his mindset - "it's a version of Guinness why are they messing with it".
I could be wrong, but the typical young punter, taking my son as an example, has little interest in the taste of their beer (it's for getting drunk) and yellow beer is lager and anything darker is ale and "they don't do ale man!".
I hope I'm not offending any younger members of ICB, but if they're members, then they are not typical young punters are they.
