No O'Hara'a in Carlow Town? 14 years 10 months ago #1

I went out in Carlow town on Saturday night and was amazed to find that not one of four pubs I went into even had O'Hara's in bottles. It is brewed ten minutes up the road from the town and is non-existent in local pubs! I recently went to the Rory Gallagher festival in Donegal also & had to resort to smuggling in some bottles of Sierra Nevada into some of the pubs due to the sheer lack of choice. Being into craft beer can be a real burden in this country sometimes.

It's worse than that. There is no O'Hara's in any pub in all of COUNTY Carlow, nor is there any in any of the neighbouring counties of Wexford, Kilkenny, Laois, Kildare or Wicklow (except Bray).

The Grapevine in Kilkenny does O'Hara's IPA, Red and Stout (thankfully, otherwise the Cat Laughs wekend would have just been macro brews for me)

Lennon's at Visual in Carlow town also does O'Hara's bottles, but it's a restaurant rather than a pub.

This is sad, but true. The Talbot hotel in Carlow town did have O'Hara's stout on tap for a while but it didn't last. I'm originally from Carlow town myself.

I have a good friend living in Carlow and it annoys me greatly when we head into town for a few pints to find no support for the local brewery. Not sure if the reason is bad marketing or not, but surely some bars would be interested in local produce.

In the late 90s the bar in the Seven Oaks had a few craft brews on tap, including the elusive beers from Enfield or Newbridge, I can't remember which.
