Tesco to stock Irish Craft beer... 13 years 11 months ago #92

Got a few nice selections the past few weeks in Westport-It's hit the Wessht!!

Personally I'm chuffed that they are broadening their beer selections cos previously I would only have been able to sample some of these beers when away for a weekend or on holiday now i can grab a few any time. I do look a bit odd tho' as our main shopping is bought elsewhere & i wander out with half a dozen bottles of craft beer & the occasional pizza...

They've got a few new English ales in atm, as well.

BrewLab in the UK is teaching the micros there not to view the grocery stores as an actual sustainable customer but as a part of their marketing plans as they can get their product into the hands of people who wouldn't otherwise see them.

-Having said that they have little to no control over how they're actually presented to customers in the store so I don't see how its really good value. There still needs to be some profit involved for it to make any sense...

I was in drinkstore yesterday stocking up and helping my not so local offy out. It seems that Sierra Nevada are not too happy about it because they are selling way below cost and they don't even do that in the UK it seems.

Actually maybe drinkstore and the like should stock up at tesco and when the prices go back to normal they win. Probably not that simple.....

Personally I don't think below cost selling of any product should be allowed as only mega retailers can affo

I don't think the Irish craft beer at 1.50€(330ml) is below cost by any stretch- I would be more concerned at the high price fixing - I was charged 5€ for a 330ml 8 degrees in a pub recently - that was just annoying

When you complain - people say - vote with your feet - so I don't feel bad buying good beers at good prices.

I see Drinkstore now have PH Oyster and Hersbrucker for €1.50. And €1.40 for 12 or €1.30 for 24. Just stocked up with a case (or two) myself.

Do we have to get Craft beer on sale stickers for all the Tesco's now?
