Hello,
Please, allow myself to introduce myself...
Great Caesar's ghost!
I screwed that up royally!
I am a huge craft brew fan. I found your Irish Craft Brewers website when I was researching my first trip to Ireland in July 2009 and I am finally getting around to posting. The wife and I had a great time on our self guided craft beer tour. Our favorite brew that we thought was head and shoulders above the rest was Clotworthy Dobbin of Whitewater Brewing which we found in a bottle at the Salt House Pub in Galway. O'Hara's irish stout was our 2nd favorite brew we found on tap at the Bull & Castle. This was probably our favorite pub too followed by the bierhaus in Cork, O'Neill's Suffolk St. Dublin 2, Salt House, & Franciscan Well. I was disappointed in Galway Hooker IPA but I must admit that I am an Oregon hop-head from my days living in Portland who loves to drink double IPA's just to get my hop fix. Which by the way completely ruins my palate so I have to try new beers first! I really like the new website and the thoughtful posts of your members! Cheerz, Foggy

Welcome to the site Foggy. Looks we don't have a whole lot to teach you about Irish beer, but there are always new beers and new pubs to try.

Hi Folks,

I've been lurking around on the forums for a while here now, and thanks to John (Thanks John!) I have finally managed to get an account sorted...

I've recently just got into home brewing and currently have 40 bottles of Coopers Larger carbonating (bottled last night) as my first home brew kit, and also have 10L of Turbo Cider fermenting in two Demijohn's at the moment (I wish I knew about tea for tannin before I made it), unfortunately cash it a bit tight at the moment so I don't really have any money to invest to get started in all grain brewing, however I do intend to... On the other hand, I do have a kit for Youngs Cider, Coopers Premium Lager and a kit for Piesporter Wine, picked up all my stuff from Home Brew West.

I'm also working on a fermentation controller for my brews which essentially will have a configurable temperature and will turn on/off a heater in an insulated press to maintain a consistent temperature for the duration of the brew, shouldn't cost too much to make either so if there is interest I'll publish the details when it's done.

Anyways, I'm off to go find more bottles so I can kick off another brew, so thanks for all the great information and I hope to become a regular!
