HERMS Brewing System 15 years 4 months ago #338

Love the site, I have been into home brewing for a while but only discovered this site today,
Like the info, like the links, love the beer
I’ve brewed quite a few kit beers over the years with some degree of success, all were drunk some just tasted better than others (“;)
I have now decided to try my hand at all grain brewing, so I’m looking at building a HERM’s brewing system.
Was planning on using 3 beer kegs for Sparge vessel, Mash tun and Boil kettle, with quick connect fittings throughout to allow the whole thing to be easily disassembled for cleaning, any advice greatly appreciated,

Also I have to build a Wort chiller, counter flow or immersion, what is best?

Hi beermonster - welcome to the site.
If you are in a hurry to do an all grain brew, have you considered the brew in a bag (BIAB) method. Only one keg required and you do everything in that keg with the grain in a bag, then remove the bag to do the boil.
I think most people on here just have immersion chillers, there's a guide in the knowledge base to build one if you're interested.

yes i seen the guide in the knowledge base and its good, but i still mite go ahead and build the counter flow.
Some good info in the knowledge base, As soon as i've tried a few things i'll try to add something myself, sharing is caring!!

Hello to all you fine people <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
I'm Crispy. I live in Galway and I love my beer.
I've been planing to get started brewing for about a month.
Hopefully I'll have my basic setup in the next two weeks and I can't wait!

Welcome to the site Crispy, best of luck with the brewing. One thing I learned is to ask questions about everything of which you are unsure, there are plenty of smart people on this site that will point you in the right direction. I know I have learned a lot and saved a few beers from going down the sink.
