Was chatting with a gentlemen in the porterhouse the other day who said I should have a look at this place and it seems to have been good advice so far.
My name is Cormac and I'm helping get craft beer on the radar of the average Trinity College student. First step was getting a craft beer into the Pav. Thats done now and is to the surprise of many going very well. I will with the help of Messrs be able to get more styles into the Pav. Hopefully a few surprises lie in wait for the beer drinking masses of the college. I'm also hoping to run a few beer tastings in the future so if anyone is in Trinity and would like to join the project. Look up [i:17f0fipx]Oscar Wildecat Wheat[/i:17f0fipx] on Facebook

Hi All!

I am a complete beginner at home brewing but at Nobys suggestion I read a lot of articles here while waiting for my first kit to arrive (like Gues7, a Coopers lager). I thought it only polite that I now introduce myself.
Said lager is now conditioning in the shed (3 weeks in bottle now)and seems OK except for a slightly alcoholic/metallic aftertaste which I hope will go away when it matures.
Next up are an Irish stout and a wheat beer that I hope to brew this week and next and will be ready for Christmas if I can bum enough bottles from my contacts and get some friends to empty the lager-filled bottles.
I expect to move up to extract and then all-grain as my experience and inventory grow (Mrs Longhand permitting).
Thanks for all the info and I'm sure I will be looking for more advice in the (near)future

Welcome to the site, Cathal.

There's no easy pre-trodden path to becoming a pro-brewer in Ireland. Most of ours either came here from working in breweries abroad or are self-taught starting with plastic buckets in the kitchen and working up from there.

If you're interested in making the leap I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice here.
