But not as low as two other Marstons offerings I tried last weekend. Both the Double Drop Ale and Old Empire IPA were in clear bottles which made me wary but of course I got them anyway. Very very poor - avoid.

I think we could tell the beers apart easier with TBN 's list than with the stout. Whether we could name them correctly of course is another matter but it would be a fun experiment.

So the beers that seem to be runners are probably

London Pride, Hobgoblin, Black Sheep. Bishop’s Finger, Old Peculier and Old Speckled Hen

Which of these are available in a pub? Which of these are so different as to be obvious? As in is hobgoblin so dark as to be recognizable by just looking at it?

I would have thought Old Peculiar would stand out like a sore thumb, in colour, body, flavour, everything <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I'd have thought the same about Old Speckled Hen, in the opposite direction.

I've only really seen Old Peculier for sale in Superquinn, and not for a while. I'm pretty sure the B&C has Old Speckled Hen, and Ruddles County too, though both are from the same brewery and neither is much cop.

Myself and bogmyrtle just tried a few of these

London Pride-> Very nice quite hoppy
Hobgoblin-> Darker then the usual ale
Black Sheep-> Nice cant put my finger on why its differnet
Bishop’s Finger-> More mouth feel and a distinctive taste
Old Speckled Hen->Skunky mank

Could I name these blind? Three I would feel ok on but I would not be betting on myself. I think the test is worth running.
