There was an inevitability about this: both breweries seem to have been running below capacity so it's just common sense to merge them. I'd imagine the big casualty beerwise will be the BUL lagers. I can see Miller taps being replaced by Kronenbourg 1664 all over the country.

But I do wonder where it leaves the contract craft brews. Heineken will doubtless have the capacity to continue Beamish & Crawford's work, but whether they'll want to is another thing: I doubt they need the business like B&C did.

How many of these are there, do we know?

You're right though, sad as it is, it was always on the cards.

Know? None, basically.

However, the seemingly resurgent Kinsale Lager (spooted in Farmleigh in September) is made there. We know that Carlow have used them in the past and may still be doing so on some basis, and I suspect (though maybe someone can confirm or deny) that they were doing minikegging for Franciscan Well.

Kinsale was the only one I would have guessed. I could see Heineken turning up their nose at all of them, but there's bound to be someone willing to pick up the slack.
Carlow are up to their eyeballs, capacity-wise, but I heard a rumour they're expanding in the new year.
Not sure about the Rebel Red minikeg. Surely filling one isn't rocket science -is it?
