I think it's after this that any objections to the further consolidation of the brewing industry in Ireland would be raised.[/quote:1n796vwc]

Does this remind anyone of that Simpsons episode where Homer goes to the Duff beer factory and Duff Draught, Dry, and Lite all come out of the same pipe?

"The Irish-made Coors Light is marketed with "Amazing things happen high in the Rockies". So the sub-title should be "(but don't tell the EPA)"?"

That's about the truth!

Say the deal goes through but Beamish has to be sold off to allow competition. Could a company with one beer get it into off licences and pubs? If not are there any other companies with draught beers in pubs that do not have a stout?

That would be A-B InBev. I doubt Beamish and Crawford is their kind of brewery. In fact, I doubt [i:ty06gx66]anyone[/i:ty06gx66] would want to touch Irish stout as the market is so incredibly one-sided [i:ty06gx66]and[/i:ty06gx66] sales are dying off generally.

Beamish and Crawford is far from being a company with one beer, however. The Miller franchise is worth a lot -- the biggest seller, I'd say. And Foster's isn't going anywhere (unfortunately). As long as those licensing agreements remain in place I'd say it's very much still a viable concern as an independent.

I think it will have to be a bit of a case of wait and see. We can speculate but time will tell. If the sale goes ahead as suggested can't see the two main breweries inm cork being left in situ. However if Beamish and Crawford is to be sold off separately there could be other options, maye management buy-out etc.

They're asking for public submissions[/url:2umw8xta] on this now. Should we send them the results of our blind stout tasting to point out the dangers of Heineken dropping tasty Murphy's in place of bland Beamish? Or will it make it look like these are two totally different products and not really in competition with each other at all?
