But I'd say the brewery will go. According to that article, Heineken hadn't the first clue what was going on inside the walls of Beamish & Crawford. My guess is they'll bring all the operations up to Lady's Well.

I laughed at:
[quote:k61syus0]Beamish and Crawford's portfolio of brands includes Miller Genuine Draft, Fosters, San Miguel, Kronenbourg 1664 and Carling.
"We're very positive about keeping those brands and marketing them and investing in them - we believe that they complement strongly our own brands of Heineken, Murphy's, Amstel and Coors Light,"[/quote:k61syus0]"Complement strongly" is clearly a synonym for "compete directly against". One brewery making both Miller [i:k61syus0]and[/i:k61syus0] Coors Light will just be heartbreaking.

You're probably right. Time for the Franciscan Well to upscale?

In that case I might skip the ICB tshirt and divert the funds.

Forgive me for being thick here.

Beamish has a licence to brew all these foreign beers? Heineken will brew these but won't exactly push them too much, or will they sell the licence?

I didn't know about San Miguel (I've never seen it on draught here) but yes, Beamish make all the rest, and Kinsale Lager. I can just about see the two American lagers surviving, and the well-advertised cheapie Fosters. But who drinks 1664 and Carling in this day and age? We're already getting most of it shipped from the UK -- I see no reason why Heineken would want to continue making them here.
