A lot of places up north work out cheaper per pint than two halves, sometimes a pound difference...sometimes it works to point out they're encouraging binge drinking.

West in Glasgow were a culprit of this but theyve now fixed it AND offer third glasses/tasting trays.

If course another way to get round it is buy a pint and split between two

I was in brew dock and their 750 ml bottles are all 20-25 euro <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: --> I bit steep so im buying them from drinkstore for 11euro. 5 beers and a burger cost me 50 easily in brew dock. Its a rare treat as I dont get out much. But it would not become a regular thing.

As far as I know, all the Brewfist key kegs that arrived in the country are being sold at the same price, so that's why their Terminal Pale (3.7%) and Burocracy IPA (6%) are the same price. That said, they're still expensive.

I don't mind paying top dollar for interesting and limited draught beer, this is still ireland we're living in, so to have the option to get fresh and delicious Euro imports on keg is great. That said, I'll never ever ever ever ever (ever?) buy bottles in the Cottage Group places - their margins are wild (especially for the big bottles!). Buy the big bottles at off licences folks, it's the only way to go!

A 30 L Keykeg costs about €12-50 for a single keg. Contract for a few thousand PA and I assume the price drops.

There is a lot of talk in UK about KKs and the rip-of price of beer. When you think of the savings to a brewery:

No Huge up front keg Purchase / No Keg Cleaning (assuming you ever get them back) / Much lighter shipping weight.

They may be a CHEAPER option than kegs and casks!

In again Friday, and my mistake - it was actually a *fiver* for 2/3 a pint of session ale.

So, let's go with €7.10 not being justifiable. What number is justifiable and why?[/quote:2hm7ntrw]

OK, I'm game.

Justifiable for me is a combination of strength, style, quality, accessibility, freshness, and scarcity.

Here's 5 beers that are €5 a bottle at Drinkstore that I would pay for:
Rochefort 10
Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast
Red Willow Ageless
Thornbridge St Petersburg
Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

And here's 5 beers that are €5 a bottle I wouldn't pay for:
Schneider Weisse Aventinus Weizen Eisbock
Mikkeller Tomahawk Single Hop IPA
Red Willow Feckless
Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout
Flying Dog Horn Dog

Right, so we're up to €7.50 a pint not being justifiable for Terminal. What number is justifiable and why?
