[quote:36rcv0y5]he black IPA is not and is not actually priced on a pint basis at all but just (like the Thornbridge and Flying Dog beers) priced on a 2/3 pint basis?[/quote:36rcv0y5]

The Blindfold Black Ipa was being served as a standard pint and not limited to 2/3 pints like Thornbridge

The SN was prices at €5.70 per pint and €2.85 for a 1/2 pint which is fair. However the schooner or 2/3 pint was priced at €4.60. My simple mind calculates the 2/3 pint at €3.80 (5.7 / 3 = 1.9, x 2 = 3.8 ) Either my maths are shockingly bad or that's a very hefty markup.[/quote:2tr1aipu]

Did you actually pay €4.60 for 2/3? I think you were just reading the blackboard incorrectly and the 2/3 only applies to the Thornbridge/Flying Dog beers. Did you specifically ask for a 2/3 pint/schooner?

I think this whole thread is based on a false assumption. I've no problem with people thinking AtG are charging too much for the beers they sell by the way, but if people don't mention it to them at the time of ordering then there's not much point whinging about it on here.

I don't think you're given a choice, tbh i wasn't given one when i'd To Ol First Frontier last week, €5 for 2/3 pint,

I didn't specify size. Bottle is appx €7.00 if i recall correctly.

Its not the first time it has happened either, I think they did the same with Boont

I planned to leave this topic alone.
Many of these are high gravity beers coming from the US, and this is an island, so there's going to be some cost to bear.
I'm OK with that.

However, last week ATG crossed a line, imho: €4 a schooner and €7.10 a pint for BrewFist Terminal Pale Ale... at [b:3om031xm]3.7%[/b:3om031xm]!

I've heard that brewing ingredients are not a big percentage of the total cost of a beer, so scaling down doesn't change much.

But if a brewery/pub is going to charge more for a stronger beer - which is [i:3om031xm][b:3om031xm]always[/b:3om031xm][/i:3om031xm] the case - then shouldn't a weaker beer be cheaper?

I'm sure there were a couple of middlemen, and we're paying for rarity, but Brewfist are pretty well distributed in speciality shops across Europe and this beer didn't cross an ocean to get here.
I just can't see any good justification for this kind of pricing scheme on a session ale.
