You sure it's 2/3 of a pint ? The only time I've drank schooners was when living in Sydney and it was 3/4 of a pint (425ml), not 2/3. Almost all draught beer in New South Wales was served as schooner size.

It was on the blackboard as 2/3 of a pint. The barman referred to the measure as a schooner.

If it was 3/4 of a pint it should be priced at €4.27 based on €5.70 a pint, not €4.60

I think you were overcharged but I disagree on the above point.

When a drink is served in a bar there is large element of fixed cost for the bar, regardless of the size or cost price of the drink being served. The staff cost and overheads are basically the same for all sizes of beer served.

What about the price of soft drinks?
I am constantly amazed at the cost of a bar size coke or fanta.

I am aware of fixed costs in business, that is why businesses generate gross profits. It's the same fixed cost whether the barman serves a pint, a 1/2 pint or any other measure of beer. Why should the GP on a pint of draught beer differ from the GP on a 2/3, 3/4 pint of the same draught beer? Spirits are charged at multiples of a 35.5ml measure, why should beer differ? I'm not advocating marching on the Dáil, I just won't be buying over priced measures.

Same reason why the GP of almost all goods falls as the size of the order increases.
