I think you were overcharged but I disagree on the above point.
When a drink is served in a bar there is large element of fixed cost for the bar, regardless of the size or cost price of the drink being served. The staff cost and overheads are basically the same for all sizes of beer served.[/quote]
I am aware of fixed costs in business, that is why businesses generate gross profits. It's the same fixed cost whether the barman serves a pint, a 1/2 pint or any other measure of beer. Why should the GP on a pint of draught beer differ from the GP on a 2/3, 3/4 pint of the same draught beer? Spirits are charged at multiples of a 35.5ml measure, why should beer differ? I'm not advocating marching on the Dáil, I just won't be buying over priced measures.
