I've no bother bashing Irish micros at all. A fairly high proportion of the brews released over the last few years them have been mediocre-to-shite in my eyes. What's that achieving? Nowt.
The point of Beoir (for me, at least) is to support our brewers, and to get the word out there to joe public that there's life outside of Heino et al.

For example, the way my palate has developed over the past years I'd now rather have a Coke than spend a fiver on a pint of Trouble Or, but when I was first exploring craft beer properly it was one of my go to brews. I've used Or as a way of beginning the conversion of many non-craft fans and I'll continue to do so.

Trouble Brewing may not have produced the US-inspired IPA I was hoping for, but hell, at least they're giving it a go.

I'd be worried if people thought I was laying down some sort of rules on which opinions are OK to express and which aren't.

I personally question the value of publishing negative feedback; I understand why other people don't want to do it; but I defend to the death your right to say on here whatever you think about beer as long as it's not libellous or otherwise endangers the community.

Ok, that's fair enough. My initial impression was based on your saying "if you like the beer tell us, tell the world. If you don't like it, tell the brewer" which, to me, carried an implied "don't tell us, don't tell the world"

Tried it on keg tonight at the ICBV.

I liked it; not sure I'd call the style an IPA but I will definitely be having another pint of it tomorrow.

Its quite simple for me, I will always recommend their Dark Arts, I will never recommend this 'IPA' regardless of what style it actually is. Very disappointing IMO.

Indeed I am, I hadn't checked back on this thread until now, hence the seeming radio silence. I won't quote and respond to all the various points made, but give a general response.

We don't have a problem if someone doesn't like the beer and posting as much. No offence will be taken, we're aware it's impossible to brew a beer that's to everyone's satisfaction.

For example; on the launch night, I had two contradictory conversations in quick succession with people (who's opinion I would regard highly). The first suggested the beer was spot on and shouldn't be changed in any way and the next recommended that the beer needed alteration.

Anyway, that's a fair bit of preamble to say that we've already decided that the next iteration of Sabotage will be an evolution (not a revolution) of the recipe. We've based that on the feedback we've received, by mail or in person, and our own ideas of the beer we want to brew. The grain bill and the % alcohol will stay the same, but we'll upping the amount of hops used.

I hope that addresses some of the points raised.
