WTF!!!!! Molson Coors buys Franciscan Wells??? 13 years 4 months ago #13

This is every microbrewer's dream, and one that no microbrewer would ever have thought would come true up until a couple of years ago. It's great news for all associated with FW, hopefully a rich reward for years and years of bloody hard work. Sharp's (Cornwall) seem to be doing ok under MC's stewardship, and why wouldn't they? People want to drink their stuff. Watch out, Guinness, there's a new Irish beer on the British block!

As well as Sharps, there is also Worthington's. Both got investment from MC and they leave them pretty much alone in terms dictating what can and can't be brewed. They just provide the financial backing.

MC are the most benevolent of the big boys as far as I'm concerned. They sponsored the first two beer bloggers conferences in Europe even though their recognised brands would not be something we write about.

Benevolent? I suppose that depends on where you stand on gay rights, environmentalism, workers rights, etc.

I was talking to a guy I know in the trade and he reckoned that both Sharps and Worthingtons beers have changed for the worse in recent times. Anyone notice this? He finds it much harder to sell either brewery's beers.
