Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course they are. And being in one profession does not limit or invalidate opinion of another. We all have an opinion, I've given mine, and those who wish have given theirs.

AMBC: Is our marketing misleading?
Ichiban: Yes

AMBC: What are you going to do about it?
Ichiban: Nothing. Though I'll probably occassionally remind friends how I might have been the first person to ever buy a bottle of it! And also that it is brewed in Belgium. Those friends might be even more intrigued with the beer knowing that it came from Belgium, and it'll probably kick-start an interesting debate about the beers honesty.

A blog is all about peoples opinion, right?
Thanks for considering mine.

Gentlemen,

Sorry to present myself in this way, but I'm partially responsible for this thread.

I am a Belgian beerlover, admin for Ratebeer, and I've been pestering poor Séan from Dublin , but even Iorwerth Griffiths and Roger Protz to try to get behind the real brewer of Árainn Mhór beers. I cannot understand why this must be classified under the Official Secrets Act, as it seems.

I have read the different postings with great interest. I do not really wish to get involved in a yea/nay slagging match, but I want to give one piece of evidence to mull over, to all those people defending the "business" side of the deal (starting funds, investments, etc.)

What if the people at Biddy Early pub had reasoned the same way? It's not as if Inagh is the centre of touristic Eire neither, is it?

And before somebody challenges me on my geographical knowledge of the Emerald Isle, I happened to find myself on Árainn Mhór in the mid-eighties already...

I still would like to know who is this excellent craft brewer over here. I have my suspects, but nothing definite.

This thread is in danger of going round and round in circles. I think Ichiban summed up a few people's feelings on the matter nicely.

And to clarify, I have a hell of a lot of admiration for the people behind Biddy Earlys, and for what they have achieved. They are on the forefront if the Irish craft brew resurgence.

Arainn Mhor, as most people have acknowledged, including Gerry, are not in the same [b:22m21sn2]craft[/b:22m21sn2] beer category.

Questions over their marketing, and future plans are where some of us seem to be divided, with me personally willing, naively perhaps, to give them the benefit of the doubt. For now.

As for the mysterious Belgian brewer, a business man doesn't like to reveal his suppliers, whereas a beer lover likes to know these details. And therein lies the crux of the discussion, in my opinion.

Welcome aboard Joris

I believe Biddy Early get a lot of tourist trade in the summer, Shannon airport is down the road, winter things are a little slower from an account of members who was there a while ago.

But they didn’t reason the same because they or at least I can tell they have a passion for the beer they produce and present it in a honest fashion to their customers

My wife pointed out to me that Biddey Early was not from Inagh, but was in fact from Feakle in East Clare (my wife did the archaeoloical survey of area and was in Biddy's house apparently), so she said that wasn't an accurate trading description...

</ end shit stirring >

I am taking the piss, although the facts above are correct, sorry

But it did start life[/url:2hzyyf91] as a pub and a man wanting to make a difference, and has grown organically and in keeping with their ethos.

I think I'll have to ban myself from this thread
