It is. A lot of the other things are conditions attaching to it.

Going to start with some question on this thread again !

Anyone have an idea of the brewing capacity of the typical microbrewery in Ireland - I know its all sub 20,000 hectolitres - but I presume the volumes and set-ups are similar.

Also this bond question is never actually really answered - I know WHAT it is - cant see a number ever written down, but I heard 150k mentioned in the pub one evening - is that a rough estimate (without giving trade secrets away!) but I appreciate it depends on the first question.

Another one that always puzzles me (just back from a tour of northern Europe) - how come we don't have more brew pubs in Ireland - surely it has lots of cost savings (delivery/sales/margin etc). I mean if you can get icrobreweries going - how come so few brewpubs - or maybe its a Dublin thing.

You need a quick return on investment and it's a lot safer to use established brands for that, rather than spending all the money getting set up and [i:364mw0rx]then[/i:364mw0rx] starting to build a beer brand from zero.

By the time an existing micro is doing well enough to own a pub, it's probably not going to be worth it to them.

I'd imagine that's the porterhouse, any idea what the volumes of the smaller setups are ?

I'd imagine its a difficult decision to make starting out. You really need to know exactly how much you are going to sell and have realistic five year projections - Changing your gear is an expensive business - also it impacts your tax/bond numbers. Must be a real kick in the nuts to get this wrong.

Found a 10 hl system here

a snip at $26k (plus import duties!)

Galway Hooker is brewed on a 650 litre brewery, according to the article on this site.

Eight Degrees use a 1500 litre brewery, which they've detailed on their site[/url:19kmksio].
