Ok lads, I'm moving to Delaware. that's appallingly high! so we're talking 50€ on a 100L batch of 5% beer. Shocking! No wonder we're in recession. that sort of malarky may as well amount to prohibition! Bring back the PDs! As soon as I finish marking these essays I'm marching on the Dail, I may even set fire to the appropriate ministry, such is my righteous anger.

I was just thinking- presumeably with bottle conditioned beer it's up to the brewer to decide when the beer is ready for market? So supposing you stipulated it needed x amount of time in the bottle, and that time just happened to be the time between bottling and delivery to the offie, then the tax wouldn't be payable til the offie bought it from you. Right? (as long as you did your demand forecast and planning reasonably well)

Yep. Though unless the offy is paying you cash-in-hand for the beer, it doesn't make any difference. And I very much doubt you can walk into an off licence with a handtruck of specialty beer and walk out with a cheque for it.

yeah... I really have no idea how money/business works. I've been in college for almost 10 years now. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

RichieH why not look into contract brewing, no major investment on your part, headache with quality control and such. An it allows you to test your market and bring some valuable data to the bank if you want go out on your own
