The Kinsale Brew - What are we brewing? 12 years 5 months ago #73

I've one in the pipeline to get brewed in the next few days. Just waiting on another batch to drop clear. Note to self, get more buckets.

Would be an idea. If we say start of feb as the meet up and send a recipe to Sam shortly after. If people bring beers and print out of the recipes be could whittle them down and probably come up with a final recipe within a day.

1. It should make a fun few hours sampling.
2. I think a bit of competition is great of building interest in this.
3. Picking and fine tuning of the final recipe should be fun.
4. After deciding on the recipe a day out down in the brewery will see let us see it through all
The way.
5. We get some class beer at the end of it all that we have formulated.

Are all 40 people who paid €50 going to be at the tasting?
Then this is an unfair way to do things.

If we want to whip up some homebrew and have a tasting so we can say, "Hey, Mosaic is a nice hop!" then that's fine.
But nothing should be [i:1n60obb7]decided[/i:1n60obb7] by sampling beers in February.

The way I see it, we need some kind of polls or voting here - could be "Here's 5 recipes", could be "Choose from this list of hops" - that [b:1n60obb7]everyone[/b:1n60obb7] can participate in before we send something off to Sam.

I agree. Even if most do want to do the tasting, most wont be able to make it and some might not even be homebrewers so its alieninating them a bit essentially turning it into a comp.

My view is that it is a day out and great experience that supports a new brewery but its not a homebrewing competition.

We need more participation then. I'm know a number signed up to support the brewery and get some beer. They aren't homebrewers.
