Right so everyone dig deep in your recipe books and we start deciding on a recipe. Maybe post recipes and we start a poll.
Really looking forward to this now.

Yeah, definitely agree. At the homebrew level a Pliny the Elder clone is 4 - 5 times the cost of a middle of the road English bitter in terms of raw ingredients. I suppose the economics of pro brewing are pretty different but definitely something to sort out early in the process.

I don't see why we should self-impose a bunch of restrictions when we're still just in the concept phase.
Let's just design an amazing DIPA, and if it's not doable, Sam will tell us.
After all, he did say this:

As said, Sam has confirmed he is fine with whatever we make. Ingredients will not be an issue for any likely beer. The only thing he is not very interested in is a sour beer. Probably because there would be a limited market but also it might cause him problems with his equipment. Some brewers are nervous about that kind of thing.

What about a Bud light clone? <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

But Seriously, before i get banned for life. I'm in favour of a clean fresh DIPA like keeganales suggested below. My favourite beer at the moment is O'Haras ipa, so i'd like to see a scaled up version with the same crispy hoppy citrusy smack in the mouth without too much body, so a bit of balance but with the scales leaning towards too much cascade.

90min IPA then so. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->[/quote:9bdwgcy9]

Sorted!

Seriously, I'd be most interested in aroma over IBUs, so lots of late/flameout/hopback/dry hopping on this DIPA.

And now that we have 8 Degrees Hurricane and O'Hara's DIPA (7-ish% ABV) that's the baseline, so bigger than that.

Really big IPAs that are actually properly bright and fresh are like hen's teeth in Ireland, so that's my vote.[/quote:9bdwgcy9]
