I find the 25l fermenters leak a lot just under the lid at the point where the handle is joined to the main body of th bucket, not a huge problem but a sticky mess none the less, i'm thinking of upgrading to a 33l bucket purely for the head space so it doesnt leak

I used a 33l bucket as a fermenter last brew and it worked fine. Pleanty of headroom. The lid for mine comes off easily enough. Got my bucket from a chocolate factory.
The lid wasn't airtight though, cause my airlock didn't bubbble even once.

The 33 liter bucket we recommend is a translucent (no colouring agents) polypropylene one. No problems getting the lid off this one if you start undoing it above the handles. And the lid seals perfectly for fermentation.

We have already tested it with a 1000 Watt element and it works great, polypropylene is good up to about 120 oC. Although it does begin to soften a bit even at 100 oC, its still very rigid.

We are trying to source heating elements at a good price. What wattage would you guys suggest. Also, does it need to be covered, maybe with the lid just placed on top but not tightened down?

I figure we could ship them for about 20 Euros, is this a reasonable price? The bucket itself sells for 12.75 so all we have to do is add the price of the element, which should be less than 8 Euros in volume.

€20 for a 33 litre bucket AND element? That'd be fantastic value. You'd also need to do good prices on taps if you were selling them as "build your boilers"

just so people know for storage, the 33l bucket is shorter and wider than the 'standard' 25l one

Hi Guys,
Just to let you know that we are launching the new Coopers Ox-Bar PET bottles at about 25% less that the UK RRP (special offer). These things have an Ox-Bar barrier sanwiched between 2 PET layers to keep CO2 in and O2 out! Pretty amazing, dont ya think? Think I'll put it up on the Market place.

I'd love to hear what you guys make of these new bottles. I'll give you guys a few for free so you can test them out. Just mention this thread in an email when you next order and I'll throw a few in with your order.
