5% discount for ICB members. OK, but we dont want to do it at checkout as it adds an extra layer. Giving refunds is awkward too, takes days and very hard to track! So here's a solution that might work:
- put order through as normal,
- email us immediately and tell us who you are,
- ask us to ship extra products to the value of 5% of the order for free,
- we will then chuck them in for free before we ship.

The trick will be to send the email right away, before we ship the main order.

Thats a good deal, cheers Brian.
Look forward to ordering again soon. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Got a call from Brian and sorted me out with some extra hops. Not quite 5% of the order but close enough.

Thanks Brian.

I decided to get a glass carboy to replace my melted better bottle (The Irony <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->). Glass is heavier and a little more dangerous, but are less likely to get infection and the better bottles do not like hot water <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I'm considering a glass carboy for cider ( but it'll have to wait till I get the brewhouse built !!)
Might shove an order in with ye guys in a few weeks time .

I've dealt with Brian before (last order) and he's great to deal with. If only they had a larger selection of products to choose from......

Oh and the disclaimer about damaged goods means nothing. If a product arrives damaged it's up to the supplier to give you a replacement. Then it's up to the supplier to thrash it out with their courier. It's nothing to do with the customer.

I agree, Homebrewwest are great to deal with.
It would be good if they could get in some more grain, hops and yeast and maybe change the layout of the website to something more like thehomebrewcompany.ie .i.e a hops section with sub sections of bittering and aroma hops.
Same with grain, a grain section with subsections.

As an extract brewer, the grains I would most commonly need are Roasted Barley, Chocolate malt, Black malt and light(20L), medium(60L) and dark(120L) Crystal malt.

You already have some good hops in stock, maybe get some cascade, saaz and a few more varities, and list the alpha acids if possible.

On the yeast front, I think the most common dry yeasts are US-05, S-04 and maybe Nottingham aswell. So you cant go wrong ordering a few of them.

The 25Kg bag of DME is excellent value, it really is but its a very big amount of DME for some people that only brew every few months, some 3Kg bags of Light and Extra Light DME would be really great.

Just my 2 cents!!! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I guess that is the way of business. Brian would be afraid to order a load of grain if people are not going to order it. He does not have the loyal customer base THBC has yet but then again, I am sure THBC had the same Dilemma in the beginning so eventually things will change.
