I'd class you in the first option on this poll[/url:3nxrism6], in that case. You already did brew before joining ICB, right?

I think I'd just started my first brew when I joined. The way the question is phrased clears it up though - I did join first for the homebrew, and the beer lover part has kinda grown out of that.

Interesting that (as I write this anyway) there aren't any non-brewers - seems like an area in which Beoir could help attract a whole different crowd.

Phew, just got through all of the posts on this thread as I only noticed it today. It made for interesting reading from top to bottom.

I love the idea of a consumer group and will be immediately signing up to it. Anything that gives a louder voice to the consumer is always good in my opinion. I like Adam's suggestion of a guide to craft-beer-stocking pubs in Ireland, which I think would probably massively expand the industry.

On that note, more just out of curiosity:

Who would decide on the pubs that get in?
Would reviews of the pub be given in the guide?
Would we be able to out-muscle the macro's when it comes to getting the info out there?

I guess these questions also apply to general public relations issues too.

I am curious as to why 'Beoir Member' is being displayed on the profile of all members across all the ICB forums? There is a seperate forum for Beoir discussions, so is this a way of 'advertising' the existence of Beoir if anyone stumbles into one of the other ICB forums?

Beoir Member is set on those forum users that have subscribed to Beoir, not all ICB users. There is no separate forum as such, but there is a Beoir Members forum for people who have joined to discuss and provide feedback on ratifying the constitution, next steps and organisational stuff. Essentially as members have to vote on ratifying, so it makes sense. You can see a list of members here[/url:2y7cdnxa].

ICB and Beoir are essentially the one, and when Beoir goes fully live, it will be the face/brand and ICB will be a specialised amateur craft brewing community as I described above.

Indeed, I meant it was set for all Beoir members, not ICB members.
I had thought the seperate forum was going to be for all Beoir related stuff, but obviously a lot of that does (and will continue to) get discussed on various ICB forums such as 'Craft Beer Talk' and 'Bar Talk'
My initial concern was that having 'Beoir Member' on peoples profiles could lend itself to some sort of forum snobbery - be that real or perceived.

Reading back through some of the posts though, I see (and correct me if I'm wrong) that esentially ICB is evolving into Beoir, with the ICB banner being maintained as the craft brewing section.
