Well I don't think we'd have to go too terribly far for food

Was in there with my Dad the other night for a belated Father's Day, and while the food is very traditional Irish pub grub, it's very nice traditional Irish pub grub. Admittedly we both had the same thing (the bangers and mash from the Gastro menu, as opposed to the A la Carte) so maybe everything else is rubbish, but we very much liked it.

All it requires is going downstairs (assuming the tasting itself will be in the Beer Hall)

I was thinking we could have food up in the beer hall too.. I was at a tasting there before, with food, and it was really great!

well i'll definitely be eating, and I'd hope that Declan and Geoff would let us get fed upstairs. Sure if not it's not a biggie i suppose.

Just to warn ye though, my IPA has ended up around 6.8%, instead of the 5.7% I thought I was going for.Oops!. Am just finished an Irish red, and will be bottling the IPA - I think it's best if I go for 330ml bottles at that ABV
Tastes loverly though, if a bit undercarbonated

They don't do the Gastro Grub menu upstairs anymore I think, but they do finger food (chips (wedges?), saussies etc) upstairs now, so I'm sure we could all just chip in and get a few platters early on in the night so we don't have casualties

Geoff mentioned Watou Wit as a possible commercial comparison. I had it years ago, but don't remember what it tasted like.

Its been a while since I tasted that one... Quite a light wit beer? Might pop round the corner to refresh my memory

I had it on draught in the Bierhaus in Cork recently, it's quite nice. It will be good to have another wit to compare for the tasting.
