ICB Tasting Session: 19th July 18 years 9 months ago #1

We have arranged with our friends in the Bull and Castle to have a gathering of ICB members in the Beer Hall for the purposes of tasting member-brewed beers. This will be on [b:1bql5e6d]Thursday, the 19th of July [/b:1bql5e6d]from about 7pm onwards. No fixed time really, just whenever everyone who is coming arrives probably

To keep things moving along, we've decided to stick to two "styles" of beer for the tastings: [u:1bql5e6d][b:1bql5e6d]IPAs and Wheat Beers[/b:1bql5e6d][/u:1bql5e6d] (hence that survey thread[/url:1bql5e6d] I posted up a while ago).

The idea is that we can taste each others brews, but also compare them to commercial examples on the night so the B&C get something out of it too for letting us do this.

We expect that Geoff and Declan from the B&C will be tasting away with us, so we'll have some independent views.

If you don't have an IPA or Wheat beer to bring along, or you are a non-brewing member, don't worry! Come along and meet other members and have a few beers. It's not often that a home brewer can drink their produce in a bar, so make the most of it!

So if you plan on coming along, let us know here so we have an idea of numbers, and tell us if you are bringing a few bottles.

Savage!
my IPA should be JUST about drinkable by then, assuming I get it into the bottles this coming weekend. Nice one! Count me in

On the plus side, I just brewed a wheat beer yesterday. On the down side, Thursday may prove awkward for non-Dublin members.

Yes, we talked about that, unfortunately reserving a spot for a bunch of people to come in with their own beers wasn't really an option for a bar on a busy Friday or Saturday night I'd prefer a Friday night myself as I have work the next day!

Well, I presumed that was the reason.
I still [i:3433z10z]may [/i:3433z10z]be there, but obviously not as ideal as a weekend get together.

Fantastic news, well done. It must take some cojones to suggest to a Dublin publican that you'd like to have a session in his premises for which you'll be bringing your own gargle.

Very kind, though I think I would end up feeling like a certain extraneous piece of the male anatomy at a particular type of convention. That said, it's sorely tempting to go along, insist on drinking only Heineken, and occasionally saying "Ugh! What's that? It looks like it's gone off."
