lol, you might be taking your life in your hands there

I think having people like yourself and DrJohn along would be very valuable to the brewing members. You guys can provide an independent view of the beers and, while it's not a competition, I know I for one will appreciate any constructive criticism to help us make better beers!

Well yes, of course. And I get the definite impression that they do heartily approve of the ICB project. However, my experience of Dublin vintners hitherto is one of maximising the take by any means necessary, and anything that might possibly stem the flow of money into the till was to be avoided at all costs. I can imagine what the Dublin publican I used to work for would say to a proposed homebrew meeting in his establishment. It has rude words in it. This was a guy who used to get upset over the beer wasted when running off a newly-tapped keg. One second too long and you'd hear "If that was [i:ejcfeijm]your[/i:ejcfeijm] beer would you waste it?" 'Course he had no problem with the weekly meeting of a local branch of the Provos who had a corner table of a Saturday afternoon, but bringing your own beer to the pub? That's [i:ejcfeijm]immoral[/i:ejcfeijm].

To be fair though I think that a lot of publicans would be of the opinion that 'if they're brewing their own beer then they're cheap and they'll only drink at home anyway, so they'll not be a regular paying customer'.
It's pretty obvious that B&C recognise most of us to be a different kind of punter than the norm - most joe soaps would balk at a beer menu to start with, never mind paying a bit more for beer than is 'normal' in other pubs.

Try it in pretty much any other pub and i guarantee that the answer WILL involve rude words, and probably a gorilla in a tux helping you to the door.

This is excellent news. I haven't got much at the moment, just an under-carbonated APA (I'll pass it off as real ale......) But I could throw a wheat beer together by then what with that style maturing quicker than most.

Coincidently, myself an n1mbus made a Wit just over a week ago, and we have a pretty tasty Cascade-based American IPA which will be in the bottles for maybe 8 weeks by the time the 19th comes, so we're hitting both targets

We have seen a very nice example of that over on boards!
