In fairness, The Pembury feels more like a village hall than a pub

I've always enjoyed Jenga myself. Also Connect4. And drunken Scrabble is always great fun (I was only playing this with the missus last Friday at Brooklodge)- you get double points for filthy words.

One of my favorite pubs the Helwith Bridge[/url:3txgvtd9] has a marbles competition each week. Which seems like rings to be an ideal pub game.

How about board games? Carcossane works really well after a few drinks, Better then chess does anyway. But I can't really picture a pub having a set that would last any length of time.

Instead of games how about some old time religion with your beer? "A struggling[/url:3txgvtd9] church is livening up its Sunday morning Christian service by holding sermons in the local PUB."

A bar is Just a Church Where They Serve Beer[/url:3txgvtd9].

That Nail game is called Hammerschlagen big down bavaria/ North-west Austria. In Cork City there is a game of cards called Don that dominates midweek in a lot of pubs. Its played in pairs and can draw a big crowd of spectators . I absolultly hate it with a vengance ...everyone must be quiet etc etc ...only good games are the hammer...one and table Fussball. In my shed I have a full scale table yet to be put together.

Dom was big in Manchester back when I as a student there in the 80s. We preferred Clang, Sergeants or 3 Card Bastard Brag.

Anyopne ever play "chase the ace" - good card game to play in a big group.
Struggling to reember the rules, I play it with a crowd of lads I go away with now n again.
Its to do with passing on a bad hand (2 cards or possibly 1) to the next person (they have to take it) or getting a new one from the dealer (and risk getting a worse hand).
There's certain trick card that can stop a hand being forced on you.
It fast moving and great craic - you can chat away if you're not involved, or indeed, if you are.
