What games that go well with beer? 14 years 2 months ago #13

Yeah but with the internet on most phones theyre a bit of a waste of time these days.
Actually to get the most entertainment out of them these days youd have to make sure there is no prize so that cheaters dont have a motive.
Or come up with novel questions possibly based on very local knowledge that wouldnt appear on the internet.
e.g. whats the pub owners mother's maiden name?

Not really games but I love a crossword or sudoku over a pint. But as was said the best entertainment can be good conversation. The biggest atmosphere killer is the ubiquitous SKY (on contstant loop)

I think games are a cheap way of adding value to the pub experience. You do have to be careful that they do not impact on the conversations of other patrons, but I do think that a darts game, or something like table skittles adds variety to the goings on in a pub and thus contributes to the atmosphere.

I meet up with my mates in tallaght village on the odd thursday, weve always drank in this particular pub, but they now do bingo on a thursday night.
Its only a small pub and the noise of the bingo caller really impacts on the conversation - its actually got to the piont where we get asked to keep it down if we're being too loud (which isnt that loud at all)
They were in a situation where tehy had to do something tho, the bingo brings in a few extras to what would have been a near empty pub anyway.
They look after the women that play (a few men also im sure), every few weeks they throw up a few sambos or a few nibbles from the chinese across the road. They even get in a bit of entertainment on special occasions - like a time warp when that happens
