Yes, because that's not an accreditation.

An accreditation would have a shield or a badge that could be used on qualifying locations, products, etc.

Ahh: a logo that says something like "Beoir says this is Irish Craft Beer". There's a problem with that[/url:3ddt9kjz].

Possible solutions are very welcome in that thread, or a fresh one.

My understanding is that generally you can't copyright single words or short phrases, but there are other ways to restrict use, like for example register it as a RBN.

I've done this a few times myself to block competitors, and have been surprised with the names I've been allowed use.

You're also pretty much guaranteed no-one can get an .ie domain if you have the matching RBN.

Feel free to move my posts on the subject if you think they'd be better on another thread.

What we're talking about here is certification marking or similar, not copyright.

Registered business name? Beoir already has one of those, but we're not talking names for businesses here.

You have your pedant hat on again!

It's coming up with something exactly like Love Irish Food or Guaranteed Irish, or various Bord Bia marks, all of which are phrases, controlled, an not just anyone can use them.

Registering a phrase as an RBN is one way to enforce a restriction on the use of that phrase. It's slightly backdoor tho.
