I guess it depends on storage but I have had some that have been over a year and a half old and they still tasted good to me ! although maybe I cant discern between good and bad

The riggelter was best before nov 08 and it was great

Sorry for digging this thread up. Was around Abbots the other day, and really dissapointed.
Wanted some sort of APA, English ale, or IPA, or anything hoppy really. Couldn't find anything interesting.
Asked the two guys there if they had any IPA's and they didn't have a clue what that was
Maybe got them on an off day, but the range isn't what it was many months ago.

(Went home with Brookly lager - which I can get at Tesco!!)

not as good as before, but in their defence the small range of english beer has become more reasonable, with most beers under 3 euro. st peters were 4.90 before now selling for around 3.60. so the message on price is getting across.

I also noticed last week a lot of new belgian abbey beers iN stock that I had never seen before. Also trappists back in again - westmalle, rochford and Achel.

i agree English and american ranges way down on what they were. Was told their River Horse beers were gone in less than a week.

Very true! Unfair of me to say they have a bad range. They still have dozens of other beers. Loads of trappists definately. But the English and American ales are very rare.

My recent visis to Abbot Alehouse!!!! 15 years 6 months ago #36

shows how long since i stocked up in the abbots ale house...i drank a poppering hommiel bier. dated 01/12/08 last night and it was the nicest ive ever tasted...wasnt particularly gone on it before. but aging definitly made this one taste a bit better I think....very smooth yet hoppy and sweet at the same time...I recommend it WELL out of date...think i have another bottle hiding somewhere maybe i will look for it in a few years
