On the other end of the scale, I was in Aldi the other day and picked up few bottles of Schofferhofer for 1.79 a bottle (500ml) Not too shabby.

I paid something like €7 for a Guinness Export, in Shanghai, served in a whisky glass with a scoop of ice cubes.

70 Yuan for a Guinness? Almost all the places I was in the local beer, most of it quite drinkable, was under 10 yuan for 500 or 600ml. You're nuts to even CONSIDER the guinness!

70 yuan indeed. In the posh, business district of Shanghai, the Chinese lads I was with wanted to see the black stuff. I dont think I'd do it again, I'd rather stick to the Tsin Tao Draught...

A pint of Guinness in Seoul will cost you about €12. Or at least it did four years ago. That's just over twice the price of the local lager.

The stuff doesn't travel well, anyway, does it ? Or is it just that the demand is lower abroad. It wouldn't be rare to pay €8 for a pint in Paris, for some nasty-tasting juice.
That's why many French incomers (me) would be reluctant to drink it before a (quick) period of adaptation
