So do all these arguments justify the prices of some beers?

Acepting that tax, duty, etc... may increased its prices I still think that as comsumer I´ve been ripped off. I feel that some products are being "glamourized" and as long as there are people willing to pay for them (myself included) everything is valid.

Take the example of the now fashionable capuccinos or lattes (milky crap of you ask me), its prices are ridiculous. Or bottled water! (appropiately marketed as a clothing accesories -"Riverblabla, water you wear"-.

I feel cause we are a minority that like different styles or brands of beer and we are prepare to pay for it we can be charged whatever. I don´t have any answers as to how to fight it, these are only my impressions

It's the extinction of an existing licence that pushes up the price. The department of customs and excise gets a grand total of €350 for the licence.

All this bullshit just to sell beer. Typical bloody Ireland.

So is it basically greed on the part of the existing license holders that's pushing the price up? WHo does the money go to on extinguising the license?

[quote:1ifmmas3]15.11 Licence abolished.

So noby was right that pub licences are being bought up to turn into offies and this little clause means that once someone has done that, it can never become a pub licence again. This means that the nuber of pubs in the sate is going down and cannot go back up.

Effectivly, the cartel is getting smaller and what competition there is is decreasing.
