This was my favourite stout for a while but tried a few bottles and pints of it recently and it now seems lack lustre! No middle, a little bit of bite at the then but nothing compared to what it was 6 months ago or so

Have the guys from O'Haras changed the recipe recently, it doesn't seem to have the fullness it had and actually tastes pretty bland compared to what it did before,

I've heard a rumour from a very good source that O'Haras might be being bought over by a big macro. Could leann follain have been changed to suit the accountants from said Macro????? It will be a real shame if it has!

Is the rumor you heard from a strong source, I would hope that it is not true. The independent sector in this country is so small and O'Haras is one of its strongest members, that to have it taken out by the foreign legion of macros that conquered the brewing industry in this country is a disgrace.

No doubt, if it is true, that the usual incompetents from government that allowed the brewing industry in Ireland be controlled by 2 foreign multinationals (who do not have the best interests of this country in mind),will allow it to happen.

I heard it from someone in the industry and would be pretty clued up! Its very unfortunate alright, the government opened up the energy, telecommunications and media sectors to increase competitiveness and they are doing the opposite is happening in the drinks sector.

I can see no way for the government to interfere in what would be a quite legal acquisition. Despite Carlow's importance in the craft beer scene, it would have little impact on competition in the beer market in Ireland.

Having said that, I would be very sorry to see the Carlow brewing company bought out by a foreign multinational. If nothing else it would slash a bunch of pubs from our directory.

I can see why they would be a very attractive proposition tho given the amount of exports they do and the amount of penetration they have on other continents

It would be an awful shame if it happened tho
