I've had enough !! 17 years 1 week ago #1

I have always been very careful how i respond to comments, and who i have a pop at due to my job description and my location, but thats all changing.

I heard that Hilden cask was still available and marched down the road for a pint(you know where).

Strangely there was a queue in front of the cask. The crowd had built up because the barman could not pour the beer.
After several unsuccesful attempts he turned and said
"ah here, i couldn't be arsed, it's shit anyway & tastes like warm cola".

I nearly hopped the counter to demonstrate to the rude, pig ignorant guy how to operate a tap.

Any how, i stayed for a hooker (this comes from a simple tap), but had to endure the same idiot abusing tourists and others who did not know what they wanted, as everything was new to them.

Apart form being glued to the tv screen (this is not a complaint about tv's in bar), his hair was next in line of importance.

But back to the casks, how the hell are other suppliers of premium beers, and Irish Craft beers meant to gain ground with the public when soul destroyers such as this particular guy, who are uneducated and misunformed of their products, actually go out of their way to destroy what others work hard at.

I for one will very rarely be found in this particular establishment ever again. Paying for rudeness, and watching the tourism/craft beer trade being destroyed by "ireland's next top model" is not my idea of enjoying a pint.

I will be emailing, although i doubt it will do anything. A local business man took abuse from the staff one night, and neither emails or phone calls raised any alarms( i was also there to witness this).

Like i said, i'm careful who i have a pop at, but f**k this.
Talk about "couldn't run a piss-up in your own brewery"

That is really shit and the worst thing is that it doesn't surprise me.

The pub in question does some great beers and I have a lot of time for the owners, but they seem to have ended up with a very bad culture in their front line staff. Customer service is an alien concept to many of them and most of them don't know a damn thing about beer.

I can understand that not every staff member can be an expert on beer and not every staff member will like every beer, but they should know better than to slag off these products in front of customers. If you don't know something, get someone who does. That's not rocket science.

If a staff member doesn't know how to operate a piece of equipment, that is a management failure. They should be trained and management should make sure that they know what they are doing before expecting them to use a new (although admittedly very simple) device. If the staff member has a problem operating a piece of equipment they should apologise to the waiting customers for the delay and get someone to help them.

The staff in this bar have a "can't be arsed", attitude and seem to think that it's the customers fault for ordering something they don't understand.

It's a real pity, because they are the pre-eminent brewpub in Dublin. Unfortunately they're probably a victim of their own success, I'd say most of the punters on a weekend night are tourists, and are not going to provide a repeat business; that said, no bad service goes unreported to friends at home.

If bar staff in a specialty bar don't have an interest in the product, they have no place behind the bar there.

Well there might be a fight for that title. Well at least for who has the worst staff end of the competition anyway.

It is really bad we can make all the efforts we want educating people or trying to produce good beer. But it the last meter the beer travels isn't done right no one will enjoy it.

I made it really clear to some owners at a piss up in a brewery that the staff were a joke. Had no interest and were generally infuriating and it was met with complete surprise and a promise to do something about it.

What is it with SOME establishments....I used to put it down to the celtic tiger sh1te and everyone had to be rude...but why is it so hard to order a pint...its a feckin pub what the hell do they think we are there for? And as for ..have you nothing smaller than that 50 when you go to pay....
