The only positive thing that can be said about the whole credit crunch/recession/governmental blindfold extravaganza is that people will become more discerning about where they are willing to spend their hard fought earnings.

You could ask for something and if it wasn't in stock they'd suggest alternatives. Well, a couple of them did. n1mbus, that bloke who made the deal with us about the out-of -date la Chouffe for one <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> But how many years ago was that? I stopped going there about three years ago. Right after I discovered a different place that could cater for my beers needs in a friendlier atmosphere.

because it's nearer to my workplace i tend to go to the grafton street branch and i have to say there's 3 or 4 barmen there that are dead sound and seem to know their stuff.
when i used to go to the temple bar branch likewise there were 3 barstaff there that knew their stuff and were very helpful, i think the fact that these staff were there for a few years is a good sign but i would agree some of the newer staff leave a lot to be desired.
i think in fairness to the management, they can train the staff beforehand all they like but the fact is that 'we' are not really the target demographic (that sounds w*anky but you know what i mean) i'd say it gets fairly disheartening working there and being asked for guinness the whole time or carling or blue wicked or whatever monstrosities - and actively suggesting the excellent alternatives to the customers when they come back with ah no - i'll have miller i know what that tastes like (nothing).

the management have been very supportive of craft brews and a couple of dodgy experiences shouldn't sour the thoughts of going there, i'll still go to get my galway hooker, wrasslers, tsb one of their specials etc. one of the main reasons i haven't gone to the temple bar branch recently is because there's a better pub in close proximity but that doesn't mean (to me) that the temple bar is a bad pub, it could do better is all.

Don't get me wrong guy's, i'm not trying to dissuade people from visiting the PH. I'm voicing my dissapointment at the lack of manners and the abundance of rudeness that i(and others in my company) have personally been subject to in recent visits.
I'm also curious to see if anyone else feels the same, thats all.

I had a grand old time in the temple bar one last week . The judge roy beans one was disappointing though . I left a half a pint of plain there on the counter . I'd had one beer in the B & C beforehand and the difference between those two places was vast . The temple bar one is a very big place though . It might take a week to find a staff member to fire in there .
They had Warka strong in the bottle in there , which is a particular favourite of mine at the moment .
