Any idiot can brew 17 years 1 month ago #1

Bog_Myrtle and a_friend_in_mead have put together this illustrated full-colour idiots' guide to making cider[/url:3fzp0365].

Obviously, after a few goes at this method, one can vary the recipe by using a different type of idiot.

What is wrong with this method? Any way to make it simpler? How would you make it more complicated?

This is a first go at a photo tutorial so any comments appreciated.

We wanted something that would make brewing seem easy to a complete beginner. We'll print a few of them for the homebrew expo in Cork.

Thanks to Colum for being a sport and staring in the tutorial. After the Ireland v England rugby match and a few bottles of Brooklyn lager we convinced him to brew the cider. He's looking forward to drinking it.

Nice piece <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Would cider need carbonation though? Theres no mention on how to get it from the demijohn to your belly (or is this part 1 of 2 type of thing?)

I think this will be a still cider. We made it before and it turns out dry and still. Not bulmers like which is a good thing.

Yeah we decided not to go into the bottling part but we may get Colum back to demonstrate how to bottle the cider. You could of course just pour it from the demi john when it's ready to make it very simple.

Oh yeah and noticed that on the front page you can't see the image. If you right click and view image it should be ok. It was done as a jpg cos it's meant to be a download and print kinda tutorial.

I suppose 2 x 2 litre sanitised coke bottles could be used for beginners to reduce the cost even more
