Just saw this. Aluminium would not be good. Cider is quite acidic while fermenting. The metal is easily attacked by the acids in the cider and will leave you with a metallic tasting result. Stainless steel in a lot less reactive and can be used without worry. Glass is you best option, either a carboy or a bunch of bottles.

I wonder if it will effect the tinfoil lining in the lidl apple packet? It does not effect the taste, but still you don't want to have metals disolved in your brew.

Almost finished the first Keggie , checked on it there about three days ago and it had blown off through the top valve of the little keggie so I said I'd better drink it . I'm not a cider drinker , but it is tasty and at about 5% has a pleasant kick . A few testers have tried and all agreed it's decent , ( my aunt preferred it as a spritzer cut with fizzy water though )
It's still quite sweet but tasty and drinkable , Some comments have put it more like a wine than a cider in flavour , Personally I kinda like the sweetness with a hint of bitter dryness after . All in all a success story .

( ohh and it actually looks like Hoegaarden in the glass - go figure ! )

I've recently done up a batch of "turbo cider". I did two gallons with a beer yeast that I had lying around, and another 5 gallons with a cider yeast. I did add grated apple for body and tea for tannin, but not sure how necessary those steps were. I bottled the ale yeast batch a couple of weeks ago, and not bad, more like a wine than a cider, very sharp, but probably would have mellowed given the chance, but nearly gone now. I bottled the cider yeast batch yesterday, so will give that a while before tucking in. Chmapagne yeast for next batch.

How do you get cider to clear? Ive started a topic here[/url:74xda91g] so this thread does not get too unwieldy
